A familiar face is taking over as the Houston Texans' new principal owner.
NFL owners approved Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair as the team's principal owner during the Annual League Meeting on Tuesday in Orlando. The role was previously held by his mother, Janice, a co-founder of the team. She assumed the position in 2018 following the death of her husband, Robert, the former Texans owner who was the driving force in bringing the expansion franchise to Houston in 2002.
"I first want to acknowledge the incredible work my mom has done over the last five years since taking over," Cal McNair said in a statement.
