This offseason, the Texans flip flopped picks with the Patriots to acquire Marcus Cannon. They acquired their former right tackle, who sat out last season due to COVID-19, to upgrade the Texans’ offensive line. It was expected for Cannon to move to right guard, and replace Zach Fulton, because of his skillful run blocking, and his pass protection that may not hold up whenever he’s not blocking for Tom Brady.
Recent press conferences have muddied this idea. The Texans coaching staff have acknowledged Cannon as a right tackle, which if it is the case, then promising former first round pick Tytus Howard would move to guard, a completely ridiculous idea.
