Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio reported that head coach Bill O’Brien is going to promote tight ends coach Tim Kelly as the new offensive coordinator moving into the 2019 season. Offensive line assistant Will Lawling is expected to take over as the Texans tight ends coach as Kelly assumes the role as the new Texans offensive coordinator.
Kelly will be the third offensive coordinator since O’Brien was hired as the head coach in 2014, O’Brien was the offensive coordinator for his first season with the Texans, but later delegated some of his duties to former quarterbacks George Godsey and promoted him to offensive coordinator for the 2015 season before he opted to keep calling the plays for the offense.
