EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Since joining the Texans on a one-year, $7 million contract in March, veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu has thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Not only has “The Honey Badger” emerged as an emotional leader for a resurgent team, he has provided hard hits and instinctive pass coverage for a 10-4 AFC South division leader.
The Texans have won 10 of their past 11 games following an 0-3 start.
“It’s been a fun ride with a lot of close ball games,” Mathieu said. “Obviously, we didn’t start the season the way we wanted to. We were able to pull off nine wins but then we lost a tough one at home last week.
