DeMeco Ryans hardly looked like a rookie head coach in his first year leading the Houston Texans, with star defensive end Will Anderson Jr. recently recalling the moment he knew Ryans was different from his peers.
Ryans was named the PFWA Coach of the Year after the Texans fought their way a seven-win turnaround en route to the AFC South championship and a wild-card round win, Houston's first postseason victory in four years. Anderson, who was selected third overall last offseason and went on to win Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, discussed his first impression of his head coach in an interview released by The Athletic Football Show this week.
