Thursday night will mark the end of a long national nightmare for many as NFL football returns to our collective televisions. Well, sort of.
Yes, the advertisements might feature Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams alongside the Houston Texans' collection of stars. But will Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans give anything more than a series or two of snaps to C.J. Stroud, Stefon Diggs and Co.? I'm skeptical on that front.
Perhaps we should save our true football gorging for Sept. 7, when Stroud and the Texans head to Indianapolis, but there's still enjoyment to be gleaned from the first game of the preseason.
