So, that was quite a game, no?

Houston 39 - Tampa Bay 37. Just a mere two-point win for the home team at the midway point of the 2023 season. A result that moved the Texans to 3-1 at home, 4-4 on the season, still 2 games back of Jacksonville for the division lead.

That is one way to look at it.

Or...you can dig a little deeper and see a game that had:

  • Houston come back from a 10-point deficit in the second half to lead by 7 and 3 at various points in the 4th quarter;
  • The Houston defense facing its 4th straight game with a 4th quarter lead with 2 minutes left in the game, and for the 3rd time in 4 games, allowing the opposing team to score to take the lead;
  • CJ Stroud set the NFL rookie record with 470 yards passing on 30 completions over 42 attempts and 5 TDs with 0 official INTs;
  • Which included a 15 YD TD Pass to Tank Dell with less than 10 seconds left to win the game after the Texans trailed by 4 after Tampa Bay scored on a TD with 46 seconds left;
  • 3 Texans receivers (Tank Dell, Noah Brown, Dalton Schultz) logging over 100 yards receiving each;
  • The Texans using their 4th string running back as the emergency kicker, handling 5 second half kick-offs, to include 2 touchbacks, and kicking a go-ahead 29-yard FG in the 4th quarter.
