INDIANAPOLIS – Former Texans offensive coordinator George Godsey was hired as a defensive assistant-special projects coach by the Detroit Lions.
General manager Bob Quinn, who is in his second season with the Lions, knows Godsey well because they worked together for four years at New England.
"George is a defensive assistant, so he is definitely working more on the defensive side of the ball," Quinn said at the combine. "In terms of special projects, that's going to be part of his assignments, as well."
"When you're an offensive coach for as long as he's been, he probably has a pretty good perspective of the defense, so we kind of want to think outside the box a little and kind of help our defensive coaches on how offenses are going to attack us.
