Former Ravens player Terrence Cody sentenced to nine months in jail for starving his dog

On Thursday, a Baltimore County judge sentenced former Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Terrence Cody to nine months in jail, 18 months supervised probation and mandatory mental health treatment after being convicted on multiple misdemeanor charges for animal cruelty, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Cody was convicted in November for misdemeanors connected with the death of his Canary mastiff, Taz, who prosecutors believed was starved to death over a period of at least one month. Cody was also sentenced to probation on Thursday for illegally owning an alligator and drug paraphernalia.

According to Alison Knezevich of the Baltimore Sun, prosecutor Adam Lippe insisted that Cody had multiple dogs that he treated well, but for some reason Taz was neglected.
