Former Houston Roughnecks quarterback P.J. Walker made his NFL debut when the Panthers Teddy Bridgewater got hurt against the Falcons in the third quarter Thursday night.
Bridgewater took a cheap shot from Falcons defensive end Charles Harris, who was ejected for delivering a forearm to Bridgewater’s head.
The 25-year-old Walker replaced Bridgewater with the Panthers trailing 19-14 and the ball on the Falcons’ 24-yard line. Walker couldn’t lead the Panthers to a first down, so Carolina settled for a field goal.
Walker started the next drive for the Panthers, handing off twice and throwing an incompletion before Bridgewater re-entered the game early in the fourth quarter.
