Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans, who starred at Texas A&M and Galveston Ball High School, issued a statement Tuesday saying he will no longer protest the election of Donald Trump by sitting for the national anthem.
Before Sunday's game against the Bears, Evans didn't stand during the anthem, and after the game, he said his decision was a protest against Trump and would continue "as long as [Trump's] the president-elect.'
On Tuesday, he reconsidered his stance.
"I will not sit again during the national anthem because I want to focus my efforts on finding more effective ways to communicate my message and bring about change by supporting organizations and movements that fight for equal rights for minorities," Evans said in a statement.
