It’s often said that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and that’s often the case in football. Coaches, whether they admit it or not, are the best plagiarists known to mankind. I can’t tell you how many days and hours I spent watching other teams on tape, copying what other teams did and then incorporating that in my offense when I coached many eons ago.
I remember the first time I did it too. Back in 1994. Auburn versus Florida. The Gators were the number one team in the nation but Auburn hadn’t lost a game under Bobby Bowden in a year and a half.
