Former University of Houston standout cornerback William Jackson III suffered a torn pectoral muscle Tuesday, a potential season-ending injury for the Cincinnati Bengals rookie.
Jackson could be out three to four months, long enough that he could be placed on injured reserve.
Jackson is signed to a four-year, $9.705 million contract. The deal includes a $5.258 million signing bonus.
Jackson was drafted 24th overall in the first round after running the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.
Jackson led the nation last season with a school-record 23 pass breakups and intercepted five passes.
