For speedy Texans rookie wide receiver Wendall Williams, his promotion to the active roster represents a huge personal milestone.
The 26-year-old former truck driver had a long journey to reach the NFL. The Syracuse, N.Y., native used to drive a truck delivering bread in the Buffalo area. He bounced around to various junior colleges before finding stardom at the NAIA level on the football field and track at the University of the Cumberlands.
Cut by the Texans during the preseason after being signed by them following the draft, Williams joined the Texans' practice squad and was then promoted this week when wide receiver Braxton Miller was placed on injured reserve.
