Former Texans offensive tackle Derek Newton filed a grievance seeking payment of a $500,000 roster bonus, according to NFL Players Association records.
Newton was officially released April 12 with a failed physical designation when he reported to work for a rehab session for his torn patellar tendons.
The roster bonus was due April 1.
The dispute currently counts as $200,000 against the Texans' salary cap.
