Cut by the Texans on Sunday, running back Akeem Hunt is joining the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad Tuesday, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
Hunt had options with other NFL teams, including the Texans, before choosing the opportunity with the Chiefs.
The Chiefs lost starting running back Spencer Ware for the season with a knee injury. They currently only have three running backs on the roster: Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller, who was released and then re-signed.
In eight games with the Texans last season after being promoted to the practice squad, Hunt flashed his athleticism and skill in a complementary role.
