Even though he suffered his share of injuries in 18 NFL seasons, ESPN analyst Matt Hasselbeck had only one run through the NFL concussion protocol that this week occupies the attention of Texans quarterback Tom Savage.
Hasselbeck missed some time in 2010 with a concussion, and one of the most interesting elements of how he described his recovery was not the mental exams but the physical requirements of returning to play.
"You have to have a stress test, such as doing strenuous activity on a bike without having symptoms afterward," said Hasselbeck, who'll be at Saturday's Texans-Raiders playoff game as part of ESPN's coverage team.
