Predicting the top quarterback prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft 52 weeks in advance is a crapshoot. What shouldn’t be a crapshoot is predicting that the Texans will have one of the top picks.
Assuming they don’t trade Deshaun Watson before this week's draft, the Texans won’t be picking until the third round this year, which likely leaves them out of future franchise quarterback territory. That means they’ll enter the 2021 season with Watson and Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. Watson has said he won’t be playing for the Texans – and even if he did want to suit up, he’s likely facing an NFL suspension – and while Taylor is a fine placeholder at the position, he’s not leading the Texans to the playoffs.
