Devin McCourty, Martellus Bennett don't plan to raise fist during Super Bowl anthem

When country star Luke Bryan sings the national anthem for Super Bowl LI on Sunday night, New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty has no plans to raise his fist in the air.

McCourty and Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett both raised their right fists in the air following the national anthem prior to a season-opening win over the Arizona Cardinals.

McCourty did it to raise awareness about social injustices after a rash of fatal police shootings of African-Americans. McCourty, whose father and brother served in the Army, also wore patriotic, American-flag themed socks.

"I did that for a reason and I didn't do it all season, so I wouldn't do it now," McCourty said.
