David Quessenberry was today announced as the 2017 George Halas Award Winner by the Pro Football Writers Association. The award is given out each year by the Association to the player who has been deemed to have ‘‘overcome the most adversity to succeed.’’
Quessenberry has certainly deserved it after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2014 after missing his entire rookie season to a foot injury. Quessenberry underwent chemotherapy which kept him on the Texans injured reserve throughout the 2014,15 and 16 season. Quessenberry finished his final round of chemotherapy treatment a few months ago and celebrated by demolishing the ceremonial bell at the University of Texans M.
