On April 2, Jackson County voters rejected a ballot initiative for a sales tax to pay for the renovation of Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Chiefs president Mark Donovan had threatened to take the team elsewhere if the measure failed, and when it did, Johnson took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to say, "Welcome home, Dallas Texans.
