Fool me twice, shame on… who?
This past Sunday night, the Houston Texans surprised close to no one when they fired head coach Lovie Smith after one season in the position.
Before I get into the macro of what Smith’s firing means for the Texans, Black head coaches, and for the NFL as a whole, I have to go back to Smith’s final act as Houston head coach.
Down 31-30 and with the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on the line, Smith chose to go for two and the win rather than waste up to 10 more minutes in overtime.
