CJ Stroud saves Texans with frantic scoop-and-scramble before halftime

The Houston Texans' offense limped through much of the first half in Saturday's AFC wild card contest against the Los Angeles Chargers, failing to score in the first quarter against the NFL's best regular-season defense. Houston QB C.J. Stroud saved his team from disaster late in the first half.

Stroud and the Texans sat inside their 20-yard line with under two minutes left in the second quarter, trailing 6-0 after a pair of turnovers led to a pair of Los Angeles field goals. A five-yard completion to tight end Cade Stover set the Texans at 3rd-and-16, and on the next play, a game-changing error nearly sunk DeMeco Ryans' squad.
