We'll see the Houston Texans take the field for the first time since January in Thursday's preseason opener, but don't expect to see any live reps for C.J. Stroud in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Wednesday morning neither Stroud nor the rest of Houston's starters will play against the Chicago Bears on Thursday. Chicago is taking a similar tact, tethering 2024 No. 1 pick Caleb Williams to the bench. A battle of backup QBs will ensue, with 2021 third-round pick David Mills set to line up under center for Houston.
