The Cleveland Browns are going from one Heisman Trophy winner from Texas to another.
The Browns announced Thursday that they have signed quarterback Robert Griffin III.
Griffin, the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner at Baylor, was the 2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year with Washington after being drafted No. 2 overall following a blockbuster trade with St. Louis.
But since that season in which he led Washington to the NFC East title, he's fallen upon hard times thanks to injuries and ineffective play. In the past three seasons, Griffin has played only 22 games. He didn't take a snap at all last season and was only active for one game as Washington opted to start his former backup Kirk Cousins.
