Each summer for the past few years, he’s taken a trip to the third-world country to help perform cleft palate surgeries for children as part of the non-profit group IMANA (Islamic Medical Association of North America).
“My role – I thought I was going to go there and I’d be punching numbers or writing paperwork," Aboushi said in an interview with Texans Radio. "But, I was assisting IVs, scrubbing in on surgeries, and getting involved, whether it’s comforting a patient or communicating with a patient.
