Bill O'Brien: J.J. Watt 'ready to go' for opener

Texans veteran defensive end J.J. Watt and offensive tackle Derek Newton practiced all week and are set to start Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

"Fantastic, they're doing fine," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Friday. "They look ready to go."

Watt won't be on a specific play count, per O'Brien, and the team will proceed with him based on how he feels during the game.

Newton has practiced all week after missing the entire preseason with a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, veteran inside linebacker Akeem Dent has been cleared under the mandatory NFL concussion protocol.

Dent passed a baseline neurological exam to be medically cleared to return to practice.
