The awkward moment unfolded without incident Monday morning as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell handed the Super Bowl LI Most Valuable Player trophy over to New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady.
The Deflategate controversy never really seems to end.
Following an astounding comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons engineered by Brady piling up 466 yards during a 34-28 overtime victory Sunday night to overcome a 28-3 deficit at NRG Stadium, Goodell and Brady smiled and shook hands. If there was any lingering animosity, Brady didn't reveal anything.
It was Goodell who suspended Brady for four games to start the season following a lengthy investigation and court battle over deflated footballs in the AFC championship game two years ago.
