It has long been considered a foregone conclusion that the Texans' Justin Reid would jump at the chance to leave Houston when free agency opens March 16. Now that the Texans have hired Lovie Smith as head coach, the the 25-year-old safety is leaving the door open for his return.
Speaking with former Broncos receiver and current Northern Colorado coach Ed McCaffrey on Sirius XM NFL Radio, Reid called the Smith hire "a tremendous move."
"I’m personally a big fan of him and I’m not opposed to the idea of staying either," Reid said.
Although Reid said he was surprised the Texans promoted his defensive coordinator, it made a big impression on him.
