49ers sign ex-Texans safety Don Jones

One of the Texans' top special-teams contributors left the AFC South champions Friday night.

Reserve safety Don Jones signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 5-11, 195-pound Jones tied for the team lead with 11 special-teams tackles last season despite playing in only nine games.

Jones is a former Miami Dolphins seventh-round draft pick from Arkansas State.

He has played in 56 career games and recorded 37 special-teams tackles with one forced fumble.

Jones has played for the New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns.
