INDIANAPOLIS -- The San Francisco 49ers made it official Wednesday as coach Kyle Shanahan announced that they've hired former Texans assistant coach Wes Welker as their new wide receivers coach.
The five-time Pro Bowl selection spent the past two seasons coaching for the Texans after retiring from the NFL following stints with the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.

Welker also interviewed for a job with the Green Bay Packers this offseason.
The former Texas Tech standout is one of the top slot receivers in NFL history.
