The Texans need cornerbacks. Bradley Roby, Vernon Hargreaves III, Keion Crossen, this isn’t enough. The Texans added to their bundle of free agents by signing Browns cornerback Terrance Mitchell to a two-year contract worth up to $7.5 million.
Mitchell wasn’t expected to start in Cleveland last year. Greedy Williams’s limp shoulder opened the door for Mitchell to take over. Mitchell was targeted 99 times last season, and he allowed 58 catches for 825 yards and a quarterback rating of 105.8 when targeted. Despite their front four pass rush, the Browns pass defense was underwhelming thanks to their cornerback, linebacker, and safety play.
