Let’s go back in time. It’s the 2019 NFL season. The Texans came into the 2019 season with Aaron Colvin, Johnathan Joseph, Lonnie Johnson Jr., and Bradley Roby at cornerback. Colvin lasted one game after failing his team in week one against the New Orleans Saints. Immediately the Texans realized they didn’t have enough cornerback depth, something everyone else already knew they didn’t have, and they eventually turned a third round pick into Gareon Conley.
With injuries to Johnson Jr. and Joseph, depth was still an issue. So they resorted to the waivers, and plucked Vernon Hargreaves III off the scrap heap.
