The Houston Texans feared that rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL in practice on Thursday, and those fears have been confirmed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Watson has been the favorite to win Rookie of the Year since taking over as the team's quarterback halfway through the season opener. Houston has had the league's highest-scoring offense since he took over.

In his last outing against the Seattle Seahawks, Watson became the first rookie in NFL history to throw for over 400 yards and rush for over 60 in the same game (402 yds, four TDs, three INTs, 67 rush yds).
He has passed for 1,699 yards with an NFL-high 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season while also rushing for 269 yards and two more scores.

Backup Tom Savage will take over as the team's starting quarterback, a position he held at the start of the season before being replaced by Watson. He was 7/13 passing for just 62 yards in the first half of the opener before Watson took over.
