Perhaps this is what ESPN's Louis Riddick was referring to when he said there is a trade being rumored that could "blow the top off" the NFL Draft.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Texans may not be completely comfortable with the thought of drafting South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney -- leaving open a host of options for the team when it comes to utilizing their first overall pick --
In talking to people who know #Texans GM Rick Smith well, I no longer believe it’s a certainty that Jadeveon Clowney would be their 1st pick
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 5, 2014
The blockbuster, however, comes in Rapoport's next tweet:
After discussing the topic with people familiar with Rick Smith, it doesn’t appear #Texans are 100% sold on Clowney. Thus, willing to trade — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 5, 2014
If the Texans are indeed "willing to trade" their first overall pick, they may have tens of suitors lining up -- thus potentially creating a huge shift in everyone's boards come next weekend's draft.
