An except from ESPN's Texan's draft coverage:
The Houston Texans have won the AFC South crown the past two seasons, but failed to advance to even the AFC championship game, much less the Super Bowl. They'll field another competitive team in 2013, but there are still some needs at various spots up and down the roster. One of those spots is at WR, where they really don't have much aside from Andre Johnson, having lost the reliable Kevin Walter to free agency. So will they use an early draft pick on the position?
Texans blog Battle Red Blog believes strongly that they should, arguing that using the first-round slot on a WR prospect is vital to their success this fall. Specifically, Keenan Allen, DeAndre Hopkins and Robert Woods are cited as fits for what the Texans need out of a WR addition.
Woods was the pick for Houston in Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest mock:
Mel Kiper Jr.
"Andre Johnson is now officially old by the standards of the position, and although effective, he needs some help. The Texans need to find a reliable route-runner who can create space both underneath and down the field in their scheme, which offers a steady diet of play-action passes and demands that receivers can set up defenders. Woods has extremely reliable hands and is underrated in his ability to stretch defenses over the top."
