The Houston Texans narrowly missed out on the postseason this season but greatly improved from their 2-12 mark in 2013, and they’re looking to improve their roster to get into the playoffs next year. Who are they targeting in this year’s draft to help them get there?
LB Eric Kendricks, UCLA
Houston has already secured their secondary by re-signing cornerback Kareem Jackson and bringing in safety Rahim Moore, leaving linebacker as their most pressing need. Kendricks is arguably the best inside linebacker in the draft, who is a sure tackler that is also extremely effective dropping back in coverage.
OL La’el Collins, LSU
Houston is looking to sure up their offensive line to help keep quarterback Ryan Mallett - or whoever else ends up under center - healthy. Collins has the size, strength, and footwork to be an impact player right away on the next level.
WR Justin Hardy, ECU
Houston needs to find another receiver they can rely on after they released Andre Johnson, and Hardy could immediately step in on the outside. He’s the NCAA’s all-time leader in receptions, and his reliability would allow the Texans to use speedster DeAndre Hopkins as more of a deep threat.
