The Houston Texans have released wide receiver Andre Johnson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Houston gave Johnson permission to seek a trade after telling him he'd have a reduced role, but he wasn't able to find a partner the Texans were interested in.
Johnson is the Texans' all-time career leader in every receiving category, and had 85 catches for 936 yards and three touchdowns last season despite poor quarterback play.
The 33-year-old is now an unrestricted free agent, and he has expressed his interest to join a team that has a great QB and has a chance to win the Super Bowl.
