The Houston Texans are reeling right now, having lost four of their last five games to drop their record to 4-5, and the frustrations are starting to boil over in the locker room.
Wide receiver Andre Johnson had only two catches for 12 yards in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and has seen his production take a steep drop-off this season.
After practice on Monday, Johnson answered most of the questions about the game with a firm "no comment", but one got his attention.
When he was asked about Eagles' cornerback Cary Williams' comments (he said Johnson seemed disengaged during the game), Johnson opened up.
“I’m trying to help the team win,” he said. “But I only can do what I can do. I can’t control everything. I only can control what I can. That’s it. I can’t block. I can’t cover guys. I can’t throw the ball. All I can do is run routes and try to get open and catch the ball.”
When asked if he was open and hasn't been getting the ball?
"You guys watched the game."
Those frustrations seem to center around quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who hasn't been very good this season and has a bad 45.3 QBR.
Houston does have a bye this week to try and regroup, and Johnson plans on getting away.
“I just need to go to like an island or something."
