Houston Texans outside linebacker/defensive end Jadeveon Clowney told reporters Thursday that he'll play this weekend against the Tennessee Titans despite soreness remaining from his torn meniscus he suffered in Week 1.
"I'm the best I'm going to be this season, I feel like," said Clowney. "Take it and go ahead and play football."
The top overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft had surgery to repair his meniscus on September 8 and returned to practice this past Friday. The team thought he might've been able to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, but they ultimately held him out because he had problems changing direction.
"It's coming along all right," he said of his progress. "The knee's going to bother me a little bit, but there's some stuff you gotta push through and come out here and play."
Head coach Bill O'Brien said Clowney won't get a full workload this weekend, and they'll try to gradually ease him in after missing six weeks.
