J.J. Watt scored his fifth touchdown of the season, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a career-high six touchdowns, and the Texans rolled over the Titans 45-21.
Turning Point:
When the Titans scored 14 straight to open the third quarter, there were some nervous faces in the Houston crowd...but Fitzpatrick's fourth touchdown pass of the day (his second to DeAndre Hopkins) put the Texans up 31-14 with 4:40 remaining in the 3rd. Tennessee's momentum vanished, and Houston cruised to a comfortable win from there.
Texans MVP:
Take a bow, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Often derided as a career backup, the Harvard product had the best overall performance of his career. Fitzpatrick ended the day 24/33 with 358 passing yards, 6 TDs and no INTs. J.J. Watt deserves some credit (six QB hits, plus his 5th TD of the season), but this was Fitzpatrick's day in the limelight.
Stat of the Game:
Going into today's game, Houston was ranked 28th in the NFL in passing offense. Fitzpatrick's last game throwing more than two touchdowns was December 15, 2013.
What's Next?
Tennessee has lost six straight, but has a real chance to end their skid with a home game against the New York Giants next Sunday. The Texans, 2-1 since their bye week, will travel to Jacksonville for a matchup with the Jaguars.
