The 2015 NFL Draft is under a month away, which means draft trade rumors are about to get extremely loud around the league. The Houston Texans are one team that could be in the mix for some draft day hijinx, but what/who exactly would they look to trade for? Here’s 3 Draft Day Trades The Houston Texans Could Make.
1. Trade #16 pick, 2nd round pick (#51), and 2016 first-rounder to Oakland for #4 pick
If the Houston Texans feel apt to take a swing at a guy like Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, this would be one of the moves that could make sense -- provided Mariota escapes the clutches of other teams looking to trade into the top three. The chance to secure a true franchise quarterback may be appealing enough to give up a 2015 second-rounder and a 2016 first-rounder, but it's still a gamble for a QB that didn't play in a pro-style offense during his time in college.
2. Trade #16 pick, 3rd round pick (#82) & 4th round pick (#116) to New York Giants for #9 pick
Here's another golden trade-up scenario. If the Texans fall in love with a wide receiver like West Virginia's Kevin White and that receiver happens to slip-slide out of the draft's top eight, the Texans might be able to swing this trade with the Giants for less value than other teams might command in a similar spot. That's because the Giants are desperate for depth at several key spots, and a couple extra mid-rounders could be too enticing for them to pass up.
3. Trade #16 pick to Dallas for #27 pick, 2nd round pick (#60), and 4th round pick (#127)
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is the quintessential gambler, having traded into a different spot or out of the first round 20 times during his time as the head honcho in Dallas. If the Cowboys are indeed smitten with a rising pass rusher such as Kentucky's Bud Dupree or a potential draft-day freefall like Nebraska's Randy Gregory, the Texans could very easily secure major value by trading down 11 spots.
