‘They’ll probably bury me’: How Mavs front office flipped NBA upside down

Back on January 23rd, all Anthony Davis could focus on was improving the Los Angeles Lakers. The 10-time NBA All-Star clearly had an idea in mind, and when given the opportunity to chat with ESPN’s Shams Charania for an update, he used the spotlight to make his pitch.

"I think we need another big," Davis said to Charania. "I feel like I've always been at my best when I've been the 4, having a big out there."

Nine days later, Davis would indeed be positioned to play power forward, with the Dallas Mavericks.
