With Tony Parker out for the season, the Spurs opted to start Dejounte Murray at point guard, a rookie who had played in two games in the Spurs' first-round series against Memphis but had only played in the first two games of the series against the Rockets when the benches were cleared.
He did not play against the Rockets in the regular season.
Asked before Friday's game if he had decided who would start in Parker's place, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said, "Yes." Asked if he would share that, he said "sure." Asked who that will be, he said "Dejounte Murray.
