The Rockets reached agreement on a deal Thursday to trade veteran reserve forward Michael Beasley to the Milwaukee Bucks for third-year guard Tyler Ennis.
The move gives the Rockets greater depth at point guard where only Pat Beverley and veteran Pablo Prigioni are on the roster.
Beasley, a late-season addition last March out of the China Basketball Association, could have been in a glut of power forwards with the addition of Ryan Anderson. The Rockets also have Montrezl Harrell returning at the position and still hope to sign restricted free agent Donatas Motiejunas.
