The Rocket signed University of Houston star guard Rob Gray on Friday.
The 6-foot-1 Gray, who made a name for himself in the NCAA Tournament when he scored 39 points in a first-round win over San Diego and 23 points in a heartbreaking second-round loss to Michigan, went undrafted this summer.
He played for the Rockets during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
In three seasons with the Cougars after transferring from Howard College, Gray averaged 18.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.2 steals. He finished his career as the American Athletic Conference's all-time leading scorer with 1,710 points.
