Reed Sheppard and Cam Whitmore stole the show in Las Vegas in their first two contests of NBA Summer League. One member of Houston's star duo won't play Thursday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Whitmore is set to be shut down for the rest of Summer League, according to The Athletic's Kelly Iko. Thursday could be Houston's final Summer League contest in 2024, though the team could continue play through advancement to the knockout stages beginning Saturday.
Sheppard will continue to play for the Rockets on Thursday, per Iko. Houston's most recent top-five draft pick quickly looked comfortable in Las Vegas, tallying 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on July 12.
