The long Rockets impasse with restricted free agent forward/center Donatas Motiejunas ended on Friday with an agreement on a new deal, a person with knowledge of the deal said.
The individual spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.
To reach the agreement, the Rockets pulled the offer sheet Motiejunas signed with the Nets and that they matched and rebuilt a contract offering similar terms but more favorable opt out dates for the Rockets.
In the new deal, he would be certain to earn $31 million if the Rockets do not opt out of the contract at any point and would earn $35 million when including incentive bonuses likely to be reached.
