The Rockets have won just 37 games in the past two seasons, but early returns show they might have scored a big victory on draft night Thursday. The Rockets came away with a surprise in being able to land Auburn's Jabari Smith at No. 3, then also added LSU's Tari Eason and Kentucky's TyTy Washington later in the first round. The consensus among NBA draft experts is that the Rockets got quite a haul.
The Washington pick was made possible when the Rockets traded Christian Wood to the Mavericks last week for players, plus a late first-round pick - used to grab Washington - and future second-rounders.
