The Rockets are seriously weighing making Hornets assistant Stephen Silas their choice as head coach and pairing him with former Grizzlies and Nets coach Lionel Hollins as his top assistant, a person with knowledge of the team's thinking said on Friday.

The individual, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of process, said former Nuggets, Suns, Knicks and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni is also receiving strong consideration and as with Silas, the staff he would assemble would be part of the decision-making.

Silas had a second interview with the Rockets on Thursday, meeting with Rockets owner Leslie Alexander roughly a week after his interview with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey in Chicago.
